Older Individuals Who Are Blind (OIB) - Program
The Older Individuals who are Blind (or going blind) Program is for those 55 years or older who are experiencing vision problems. We provide services to maintain enjoyment in life and enhance your daily activities. Our program seeks to stimulate independent living, empowerment and full inclusion of older individuals who are blind.
As a part of our program we offer: Independent living skills training, transportation information, peer and group support, information and adaptive aids on the many technologies designed for people with vision impairment.
*This program serves the following counties:
Shasta, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Plumas, Tehama & Colusa counties
To be part of the program you must:
- be losing your sight or blind
- be age 55 or older
- live in Siskiyou, Shasta, Tehama, Modoc, Lassen, Plumas, or Colusa County

Pat is a local artist who had stopped painting due to her eyesight. Through the OIB program, she obtained magnifiers, and she can now paint again!
