Deborah graduated Simpson University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and then her Elementary Teaching Credential in 1999. She went on to teach 6, 7, 8 grade science and then transitioned into the private fire company business. Before joining DAC she worked for Shasta County Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council of Shasta County as a in home caseworker providing parenting support, mentoring and acting as a bridge to accessing community services for families in need. Deborah started working for DAC in 2010, as a Housing Program Specialist. In 2012 she was eager to move into the position of Assistive Technology Coordinator. She provides services to our consumers needing assistive technology through the Device Lending Library and the Durable Medical Equipment Reuse Program.
In 2016 the Assistive Technology Program has expanded their services and have started two new programs:
- Communication Technologies for Seniors that provides in home training for low vision seniors to teach them how to use their computers, tablets, and cellular phones to communicate with family and friends.
- Visions Options Pilot Program includes the demonstration and loan of iPads with communication apps to Californians with speech disabilities.
