PiratePALOOZA 2018: “The Triumphant Return” opens Friday May 11, 2018 in The Big Room At Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, 1075 East 20th Street, Chico, CA 95928

Join us beginning with our “Grog Hour” at 5:30 with world-famous Sierra Nevada Beer and Ale, a selection of fine Wine and tasty appetizers. As your crew begins warming up to the festivities, visit the Silent Auction as well as the mysterious Fortune Teller and Joy Cooper’s professional make-up booth to get your customized Pirate Movie Star look on!

PiratePALOOZA launched in 2007 and is now set to begin its second decade as a unique and boisterous celebration with amazing food, drink and entertainment. The event has earned a loyal following of land-locked pirates who return year after year to celebrate the adventurous spirit and iconic style of the Golden Age of Piracy … and 1970’s disco! All proceeds from the non-profit event benefit Disability Action Center’s (DAC) no-cost services and advocacy for people who have disabilities. All donations are tax-deductible.

The Galley opens at 7:00 PM with a hearty full course Sierra Nevada dinner. Before and after the meal you can choose to be entertained or – if the spirit moves you – become part of the entertainment, yourself! Join the Pirate King & Queen Competition: it’s like a fashion show with pirate swagger & killer dance moves. The judges’ favorites win a beautiful trophy along with the prestige of being named King or Queen of the PALOOZA … and who wouldn’t want that on their resume?

If you’ve been before – thank you for making it possible to do this again! If you haven’t been – give it a try – you’ll be happy you did! Here are some useful sources of info on the Disability Action Center and PiratePALOOZA:

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no minimum age, although beer and wine purchases will require a valid i.d. This is not necessarily a family event, but it isn’t family un-friendly. A smattering of children join us every year. It is loud, which might be a consideration, but we keep the show within respectable bounds.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Plenty of parking at Sierra Nevada. DAC strongly, strongly, strongly encourages the use of sober drivers, taxi cabs or ride share services. Chico is small. The fares are affordable. Please drive safely and respect others and the law.

What can I bring into the event?

Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the The Big Room at Sierra Nevada.  Brewing Company.

Do nah worry heartie. We shall feed yer hunger ‘n thirst well. See ye thar!
